Install / Remove  Skype 4.2 On Ubuntu 13.10

Skype 4.2 released and , here in this tutorial i will show  you how to install on Ubuntu 12.04 / 12.10 / 13.04

Two Ways to install skype on ubuntu

Method 1

Install skype via ubuntu software centre

Method 2

Step 1 : Go to Skype home website and select the Operating system as UBUNTU followed by version ie 12.04 / 12.10 / 13.04  /13.10

Step 2: Install the package

sudo dpkg  -i skype* .deb

If skype installed successfully  go to  dashboard and  Login

If skype not installed and geeting any error message then run the below command

sudo apt-get install -f

Optional

Step 3:Tray Icon 

If Icons are not installed during the installation type the following commands

For 32 bit
sudo apt-get install sni-qt

For 64 bit
#sudo apt-get install sni-qt sni-qt:i386

Uninstall Skype 

For removing skype run the below commands in terminal

sudo apt-get remove skype skype-bin
