Install LibreOffice 4.2.0 On Ubuntu / LinuxMint / Elementary OS

Hello Readers, LibreOffice an alternative for Microsoft office released new version 4.2.0 today.this release 4.2.0 is a stable version finaly released on 30-01-2014.It comes with  features less than or equal to Microsoft  office

In this tutorial I will show you how to install Libre office 4.2.0 On Ubuntu 13.10 / 12.10 / 12.04 / 13.04 , LinuxMint 15 / 14 & Elementary OS 0.2

Installation Steps:

Remove Previous Version

To remove Previous version of Libre office

sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-core

To remove the Libo configuration files

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice-core

(or)

If your are using open office and need to install Libre office type the command

sudo apt-get purge "openoffice*.*"

Two ways to Install LibreOffice 4.2.0

Install Libre Office Via deb

Step 1: Download Libreoffice 4.2.0  from the official download page

For 32bit Download here

For 64bit Download here

Step 2:After Downloading  extract tar package .

Step 3: Install the deb Packages by login as a root user or otherwise use sudo 

dpkg -i *.deb

Step 4: Now Libre office is installed and shortcuts are not created in the menu.Move to the desktop integration folder and install the desktop integration package

cd desktop-integration

dpkg -i *.deb

Installation Steps Via PPA

Step 1: Add the Libre office PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa

Step 2: Update the Repository

sudo apt-get update

Step 3: Install Libre Office 4.2

sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Uninstalling Libre Office

If you want to remove Libre Office type the command

apt-get remove --purge libreoffice 4.2*
