Install Firefox 29.0 On Ubuntu / LinuxMint / CentOS / OpenSUSE

In this Tutorial I will show you how to install the Firefox 29.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 13.10 /12.04 LTS, LinuxMint 15 / Fedora 20 / 19 / CentOS 6.X / OpenMandriva & OpenSUSE


Firefox a most commonly used browsers by everyone and one of the standard browsers too.It is an opensource browser and it is developed by mozilla corporation and mozilla Foundation.It is available for Multiple Operating systems (ie) Windows,Linux,Mac OSX.Firefox browsers are commonly used for security reasons.


Firefox Released its new stable Version 29 on 28th April 2014

Installation Steps

Method 1
Best and easy way is to upgrade firefox by updating the Repository.
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade
Method  2
Step 1:Download The Latest Version of Firefox 29 from their FTP 

For Downloading from Mozilla FTP Click HERE

(Or) 
Use wget 

For 32 bit systems
wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/29.0/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-29.0.tar.bz2
For 64 bit systems
wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/29.0/linux-x86_64/en-US//firefox-29.0.tar.bz2
Step 2: Extract the tar package
tar -xjf firefox-29.0.tar.bz2
Step 3: Move the Firefox29 Folder to opt

Remove the Older version of firefox if it's there
sudo rm -rf  /opt/firefox
sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox29
Step 4: Create Symbolic link for New Firefox as default
sudo ln -s /opt/firefox29/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
