Tor is a free software and platform independent  that helps you defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security.

The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained.

In this Tutorial I will tell you how to install TOR Browser Bundle 6.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 14.04 LTS , LinuxMint 17 / 16

Installation Steps

Installation can be done via ppa and also by tar file

There is no official PPA from Tor team , as of now webupd8 team providing the ppa

Step 1: Add the PPA Provided by webupd8 Team
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/tor-browser
Step 2: Update the Repository
sudo apt-get update
Step 3: Install TOR Browser Bundle
sudo apt-get install tor-browser
