Install HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) 3.16.11 in Ubuntu / LinuxMint

In this tutorial i will show you how to install the latest version of HPLIP 3.16.11 On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 16.10 , LinuxMint 18 and Debian .


HPLIP stands for HP Linux Imaging and Printing,which is developed by HP for using HP Printer in Linux Platforms,Hpby using this software anyone can take Printout,scanning and copier using HP Laserjet and HP Inkjet Printers


HPLIP supports more than 2000 Printer models including all bussiness model, inkjet, laser and etc.. , you can also chek the list of supported devices in here

The Latest Version of HPLIP is 3.16.11 released recently and comes with the following support og Printers and Latest Linux distribution OpenSuse 42.2 and Fedora 25.


Changes:

Added support for the following new model Printers:


  • HP LaserJet M101-M106 Printer
  • HP LaserJet Pro M203-M206 Printer
  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227-M231 Printer
  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP M129-M134

Added support for the new Distro's:


  • OpenSuse 42.2
  • Fedora 25

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the installer file

Download installer file from the Sourceforge website or use the below command

wget http://liquidtelecom.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.16.11/hplip-3.16.11.run
Step 2: Change the permissions to the Installer file
sudo chmod -R 755 hplip-3.16.11.run
Step 3: Install HPLIP 3.16.11
sudo ./hplip-3.16.11.run
Once Installation process started it'll install all those dependencies and drivers you need to Press yes or no according to your needs.
