Install HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) 3.17.10 in Ubuntu / LinuxMint

HPLIP released a newer version having a support for 2 new model printers and released on 17th OCT 2017

In this tutorial, I will show you how to install the latest version of HPLIP 3.17.10 On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 17.04, LinuxMint 18 and Debian.


HPLIP stands for HP Linux Imaging and Printing, which is developed by HP for using HP Printer in Linux Platforms, Hp by using this software anyone can take Printout, scanning, and copier using HP Laserjet and HP Inkjet Printers
HPLIP supports more than 2000 Printer models including all business model, inkjet, laser and etc.. , you can also check the list of supported devices in here

The Latest Version of HPLIP is 3.17.10 released recently and comes with the following fixes and changes and Latest Linux distribution Debian 9.1 support they have added

Changes:

  • HP Scanjet Enterprise Flow N9120 fn2 Document Scanner
  • HP Digital Sender Flow 8500 fn2 Document Capture Workstation
Added support to the below Distro
  • Debian 9.1

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the installer file

Download installer file from the Sourceforge website or use the below command
wget https://excellmedia.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.17.10/hplip-3.17.10.run
Step 2: Change the name of the downloaded file to hplip 3.17.10.run and give Execute Permissions to the Installer
sudo chmod -R 755 hplip-3.17.10.run
Step 3: Install HPLIP 3.17.10
sudo ./hplip-3.17.10.run
Once Installation process started it'll install all those dependencies and drivers you need to Press yes or no according to your needs.
