Install / Uninstall Libreoffice 5.4.2 On Ubuntu / LinuxMint / CentOS / Fedora

In this tutorial, I will show you how to install LibreOffice 5.4.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 17.04 and LinuxMint 17  /18.

LibreOffice an opensource and alternative for Microsoft and open office, unlike others LibreOffice supports lots of tools, this suite contains the following Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, and Base.
and this version is a stable version

Installation steps

Before proceeding for installation remove the previous versions of Libre office or OpenOffice
sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-core
sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice core
For OpenOffice uninstallation
sudo apt-get purge openoffice

Install LibreOffice 5.4.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 / LinuxMint via PPA

Step 1: Add the Official PPA
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
Step 2: Update the Repository
sudo apt-get update
Step 3: Install LibreOffice 5.4.2
sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Install LibreOffice 5.4.2 on Ubuntu / LinuxMint / CentOS / Fedora from the tar file

Step 1: Download the deb files using the below command according to your distribution

For 32 bit (Debian based OS)
wget http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.4.2/deb/x86/LibreOffice_5.4.2_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz
For 64 bit (Debian based OS)
wget http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.4.2/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_5.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
For 32 bit (Redhat based systems)
wget http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.4.2/deb/x86/LibreOffice_5.4.2_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz
For 64 bit (Redhat based systems)
wget http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.4.2/rpm/x86_64/LibreOffice_5.4.2_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz
Step 2: Download the tar file and extract the package
tar -zxvf LibreOffice_5.4.2_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz && cd LibreOffice_5.4.2.2_Linux_x86-64_deb && cd DEBS
Step 3: Login as root user  and install the deb file
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

For Fedora use the below command as root

dnf install *.rpm

For CentOS use the below command as root

yum localinstall *.rpm
