Install / Uninstall uGet 2.2.1 On Ubuntu / LinuxMint / Fedora

In this Tutorial, I will show you how to install the Latest version of uGet 2.2.1 On Ubuntu 16.04 / 17.10, LinuxMint and Fedora.

uGet team released a new version 2.2.1, It is an opensource and famous download manager for Linux, It is easy to use and it automatically integrates with Browser Firefox and chrome.

It is based on GTKWith this download manager uGet we can pause, stop and start the downloads.

  • reduce memory usage.
  • mega plug-in: completed size should not be '-1' if file size > 2G on a 32-bit system.
  • adjust speed limit independently without enabling global speed limit.
  • Fix: Can't get 1080p video from YouTube.
  • update translation files.

Installation Steps:

Method 1: Via PPA

Step 1: Add the Official Repository from uGet Team
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:plushuang-tw/uget-stable
Step 2: Update the Repo
sudo apt-get update
Step 3: Install uGet 2.2.1
sudo apt-get install uget

Method 2: Via deb file

Step 1: Download the deb file from SourceForge site according to your distribution.

Step 2: Install the .deb file
sudo dpkg -i uget_2.2.1-0ubuntu0_xenial_amd64.deb

Uninstall uGet 2.2.1

sudo apt-get purge uget 

For Fedora

Uget can be downloadable directly from the official repositories, for versions 25-27 use the below command to install the latest version
dnf install uget
Manual installation
wget https://10gbps-io.dl.sourceforge.net/project/urlget/uget%20%28stable%29/2.2.1/uget-2.2.1-0.fc27.x86_64.rpm && rpm -ivh uget-2.2.1-0.fc27.x86_64.rpm
