In this tutorial, I will show you how to install the latest version of HPLIP 3.18.12 On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 18.10, LinuxMint 18 and Debian.
HPLIP stands for HP Linux Imaging and Printing, which is developed by HP for using HP Printer in Linux Platforms, Hp by using this software anyone can take Printout, scanning, and copier using HP Laserjet and HP Inkjet Printers
HPLIP supports more than 2000 Printer models including all business model, inkjet, laser and etc.. , you can also check the list of supported devices in here
The Latest Version of HPLIP is 3.18.12 released recently and comes with the following fixes and changes and Latest Linux distribution support they have added.
Changes:
- HP Scanjet Pro 2000 S1

Added support to the below Distro
- Debian 9.6(64-bit)
- Ubuntu 18.10(64-bit)
Other Changes

Installation Steps
Step 1: Download the installer fileDownload installer file from the Sourceforge website or use the below command
wget https://excellmedia.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.18.12/hplip-3.18.12.runStep 2: Change the name of the downloaded file to hplip 3.18.12.run and give Execute Permissions to the Installer
sudo chmod 755 hplip-3.18.12.runStep 3: Install HPLIP 3.18.12
sudo ./hplip-3.18.12.runOnce Installation process started it'll install all those dependencies and drivers you need to Press yes or no according to your needs.
